The now-famous Buccaneer shrimp boat that became a Crystal Beach attraction is finally back in the water after nearly two weeks stranded on the beach. Crews, volunteers, heavy equipment operators, marine teams, and local agencies worked together to free the boat and return it to the Gulf.

For Bolivar Peninsula, this story became more than a stranded shrimp boat. It turned into one of those only-on-the-Gulf-Coast moments that brought people out with lawn chairs, cameras, curiosity, and community spirit.
The recovery effort showed the strength of coastal communities. When someone needed help, people showed up — from volunteers and equipment operators to marine crews and organizations like the United Cajun Navy. The Buccaneer is now headed to dry dock, and hopefully will live to shrimp another day.
